Medika Private Clinic is a private medical clinic founded by Dr. Karine Richard, a dynamic and innovative general practitioner. Medika Private Clinic offers accessible health care as an alternative to public health services. Doctors are not governed by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (non-RAMQ).
In other words, they do not participate in the Québec Health Insurance Plan. According to the Health Insurance Act, A “non-participating professional” is a professional who practises his profession outside the scope of the plan established by this Act but does not agree to be remunerated in accordance with the tariff provided in an agreement or who is the subject of an order issued pursuant to section 77, 77.0.1 or 77.1.1, and all of whose patients alone assume payment of the fees which include the price of medications in the case of a pharmacist.
Therefore, fees for medical consultations shall be borne by patients, as they cannot be claimed from the RAMQ. However, these costs incurred may be deductible on your income tax return.
Even though medical consultations are not reimbursable by private insurance plans because of the Health Insurance Act, certain medical and/or nursing expenses may be reimbursed to you by your insurer.

Please note that you are free to go to a public health facility for any other consultation request made by your family doctor (specialist, imaging, blood tests, etc.).
Like all doctors practising in the public or private system, Dr. Karine Richard and all the physicians of Medika Private Clinic are members in good standing of the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ) and observe the rules of the code of ethics of their medical profession.
